The Online Therapy Unit (OTU) is a not-for-profit clinical service and research unit at the University of Regina, providing free, evidence-based Internet-Delivered Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (ICBT) to adults across Canada, with therapist-guided programs currently available to Saskatchewan residents. It is located on Treaty 4 and Treaty 6 Territories—the traditional lands of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda peoples, and the homeland of the Métis/Michif Nation.
Founded in 2010 by Dr. Heather Hadjistavropoulos, the OTU has partnered with the Saskatchewan Health Authority to provide free, evidence-based ICBT to adults across Canada. Our programs are adapted from models first created at Macquarie University in Australia and have been refined and evaluated for the Canadian context.
Our team includes therapists, guides, researchers, and health professionals dedicated to making mental health support more accessible. Some therapist-assisted courses are available to Saskatchewan residents, while self-guided and coach-supported options are open to participants across Canada.
Our vision is to provide accessible, evidence-based online therapy across Saskatchewan, Canada.
The Online Therapy Unit delivers, evaluates, and advances evidence-based ICBT through clinical service, research, education, and training. We work in partnership with public health systems and international institutions to increase access to effective mental health care for adults in Saskatchewan and beyond.
The OTU is a national leader in ICBT, combining clinical service, education, and research excellence.
